Is Mediation Right For You
Ben Affleck has publically admitted that Daredevil, the film where he met wife Jennifer Gardner, “didn’t work… at all.” Unfortunately, Daredevil isn’t the only thing that didn’t work between Affleck and Gardner. After 10 years of marriage, the power couple and parents of three children have announced their decision to separate.
Despite rumors that Affleck has been involved in excessive drinking, gambling, and infidelity, both Affleck and Gardner seem to be taking the high road and are carrying out the beginning stages of the divorce amicably. After the split was announced, the couple took their children on a quiet getaway to their house in the Bahamas to escape the press for a few days before returning to work. While it has been said that there is no such thing as an amicable divorce- especially in Hollywood-the pair appears to be working together to stay civil and keep their children their top priority.
Hearing about an amicable divorce is so refreshing because unfortunately, they are hard to come by. However, if a mutual, cordial split is what you’re looking for, perhaps mediation is for you. Mediation is when a married couple seeking a divorce sits down together and works with a mediator to divide their assets and debts in a way that is fair, economically efficient, and less adversary than going to trial. If this method appeals to you, Elissa C. Goldberg’s office can help. Elissa is not only a family practice lawyer but an experience mediator, and has worked with numerous couples to help reach an agreement with which each individual is satisfied.
If you’re like Ben and Jen and an amicable divorce is a top priority for you, give Elissa a call.
